2017 TCR Asia Series

29 March, 2017

With an increase in the number of events for the 2017 TCR Asia Series season, WSC Asia Limited wanted a fitting close to the season to add to it’s mid-season blue-ribbon event on the streets of Bangsaen in Thailand, revealing that the season will now conclude alongside the TCR International and TCR China Series at Zhejiang in early October, in what will be an extravaganza for touring car fans.

Additionally, Zhuhai – which will host the second event of the season on March 10-12 – will also host the third round of the championship three weeks later, providing TCR Asia a fantastic opportunity to showcase the category in the biggest market in Asia.

“With changes in Thailand and the opportunity to compete alongside TCR International and TCR China in Zhejiang, we have rationalized the calendar to make it more effective for teams, both existing and new to compete within TCR Asia across the remainder of the season,” WSC Asia Limited’s David Sonenscher confirmed.

“We’re very excited about the 2017 season, especially having the opportunity to compete at Bangsaen in July, and to finish the season off on such a high note in what will be an iconic event for touring cars in Asia at the impressive new Zhejiang facility.”

For now the focus turns from Malaysia to China, where Liqui Moly Team Engstler’s Diego Moran leads the TCR Asia Series championship points after the opening round in Sepang, whilst new Phoenix Racing Asia recruit Jasper Thong is on top of the TCR Asia Cup points.
