Singapore. Following the successful premiere of the Macan model range at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Porsche launched the new Macan GTS on Wednesday, 11 May 2016. A group of exclusive Porsche owners and members of the media were in attendance at the outdoor evening event held at the rooftop terrace of Porsche Centre Singapore.

The Macan was the first sports car in the compact SUV segment. Since its launch in July 2014 more than 600 Macan models were delivered to customers. Porsche is set to extend the impressive success of this model range by unveiling another very exciting variant – the Macan GTS.

The new Macan GTS is engineered to be the ultimate urban sports car that is not just practical and spacious but also truly fun and exciting to drive. The highly-efficient 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine produces 360 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Full of life and energy, the new Macan GTS is capable of sprinting from 0 – 100 km/h in five seconds flat with the Sport Chrono Package, and reaches a top speed of 256 km/h. The seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) comes as a standard option, as does the sport exhaust system with black sports tailpipes, from which you can expect to hear a particularly resonant sports-car sound every time you step on the accelerator. Also integrated as standard in the new Macan GTS is Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), which actively regulates damping force based on the changing conditions of the road as well as your driving style. The tuned suspension, which is 15 mm lower than the Macan S, deepens your connection with the road beneath you.

On the exterior, the 20-inch RS Spyder Design wheels in Satin Black, the standard SportDesign package with an imposing front apron and side skirts as well as matt black air intake grilles sharpen the dynamic appearance of the car and emphasize its athletic stance. On the interior, the eight-way electric sports seats and exclusive GTS leather package with luxurious Alcantara complete the sporty look and feel of the Macan GTS. This is truly a Porsche on the inside and out — an energetic sports car that is ready to take on any challenging terrain you may encounter.

“The Macan is built for those who want to experience a life full of fervor and intensity. The new Macan GTS is built for those who want to go one step further and experience the sheer driving pleasure of a sports car in the SUV segment. One should expect nothing less from a Porsche that bears the GTS insignia — outstanding sporting character, effortless and powerful agility, and a striking silhouette that is instantly recognizable as a Porsche. The new Macan GTS is versatile, practical, and the very embodiment of the urban sports car. It is my belief that this new addition to the Porsche family will extend the success of the Macan model range in Singapore,” said Mr. Karsono Kwee, Executive Chairman of Eurokars Group.

About the all-new Macan GTS

Based on the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine in the Macan S, the Macan GTS incor-porates hardware changes and a unique engine calibration to allow the engine to develop 360 hp at 6,000 rpm and 500 Nm of torque between a broad 1,650 – 4,000 rpm. The rest of the all-wheel-drive powertrain matches up to the Macan Turbo; Porsche’s seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission is combined with Porsche’s Traction Management system (PTM) that actuates an electro-hydraulic, multi-plate clutch to variably engage the front axle depending on traction needs.

All told, this powertrain package accelerates the Macan GTS to 100 km/h in as little as 5.0 s in conjunction with the optional Sport Chrono Package and up to a top track speed of 256 km/h. Porsche’s Stability Management system is also recalibrated for this application, and when com-bined with the Sport Chrono package, it provides an even more dynamic driving experience. Large 360 mm front rotors, with six-piston fixed callipers finished in red, and 330 mm rear ro-tors, with single-piston callipers also painted in red, provide the braking force needed for perfor-mance use and assist with torque vectoring, via Porsche’s optional Torque Vectoring system (PTV).

The steel suspension, including Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), comes standard on the Macan GTS. This provides variable damper stiffness based on the road conditions and driving characteristics. Macan GTS specific suspension tuning also includes a 15 mm reduction of standard ride height compared to the Macan S, further lowering the centre of gravity.

The Macan GTS is characteristically recognized by the many black exterior accents. The window trim is finished in high gloss black, there is a matte finish on the lower body and the Porsche Macan GTS designation on the rear hatch, and the standard 20-inch RS Spyder Design wheels are finished in Satin Black. Side blades, located in the lower portion of the doors, are matte black with GTS logos in contrasting gloss black. The Macan GTS will be available with optional LED headlights that feature Porsche’s unique four-point daytime running lights, as well as Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus).

On the inside, the Macan GTS features a standard leather package and GTS sport seats with Alcantara seat centres and GTS logos on the headrests. The standard PCM (Porsche Communication Management system) including navigation module, mobile phone preparation, and audio interface is complemented by the Sound Package Plus system which comprises of eight loudspeakers, 150-watt total output with integrated amplifier and digital signal processing. Porsche Connect Plus is optionally available, which provides Apple CarPlay integration, a smartphone storage compartment in the centre console, a telephone module and wireless internet access.
